Data And Data Science And Use Of Data Science In Smart Gadgets|Devices.
What is data?
Data is basically information about anything. The number of leaves on a tree or the flavor of your ice cream or even the number of stars in the universe. What percentage of the people like the government- all of this is data.
There is an immense amount of data all around us in our lives But simply having data around us is of no use to us. It is important for us to know what data is useful and what data we should analyze and how, by recognizing patterns, we can make use of that data.
What are we going to do by counting the number of leaves on this tree? What use would that be?
It is useless data and is of no use to us. But the percentage of people that favor the government is useful data. It would be useful in politics- it can help the government understand what they should change and how can they transform themselves. This would come in handy later during the elections. But, it isn't sufficient to simply record the data.
If you don't analyze it, compare it and improve it. Say, you keep track of the total number calories you consume every day. You jot down what you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day You. You do that for weeks But if you only have this record and do not compare it with the amount of calories that are optimal for you and if you do not try and improve yourself, then this data would be of no use to you.
What is Data Science
This observation, recording and studying of data and then using the information gathered to arrive at a decision is what is called data science.
Through data science, you interpret any data and derive useful information from it to use it in your decision-making process.
Data science is the field of study that combines domain expertise, programming skills, and knowledge of mathematics and statistics to extract meaningful insights from data.
To use this data to inform your decision-making, it needs to be relevant, well-organized, and preferably digital.
Use Of Data and Data Science in Smart gadgets like Smartwatches
There are so many smart gadgets like smartwatches that you wear like a watch in the market today. If you wear them overnight, they will track the quality of your sleep.
They measure your heart rate and will tell you how many hours you've slept.
If you wear it and sleep and you slept 8 hours- That’s a data point The day after, you slept for only 7 hours. That’s another data point. Just like this, your smartwatch will keep track of your sleep for weeks and tell you your sleep quality,
how many hours you slept each day. And if this is done for months and years, then very useful data could be derived from it. By looking at the 365 data points, you can understand whether your sleep quality is better on weekdays or weekends and whether you sleep better if you go to sleep at 10 or if you go to sleep at 11 or 12 By collecting these data points for a whole year, you can identify the more stressful months of the year, But that is just the beginning- Say along with the sleep data, you also start tracking. calorise intake for the entire year So, you will know how many carbs, fats and proteins you consumed in every meal every day. If you combine both the data sets, then you can say what days you slept better on the days that you ate more fats or on the days that you consumed more proteins,
And on the basis of the year-long data, you can conclude that you sleep better when you consume more proteins and fewer fats And along with that, if you add the data of exercise to the already being recorded dataset on sleep and food then you can make an “action plan” for your many.
what you should do in the future for a good sleep quality- how much should you exercise and how many fats and proteins you should consume So, this is data science. And it could be used not only for health tracking of an individual but it could be used in any aspect of life. Do you remember the first part of the Dhamaal movie? There was a dialogue of Adi Manav when they were standing at the foot of the bridge with the car? They were taking the car through the jungle. He said that the bridge was broken but if the car was sped at a 45°,then the car would cross the bridge. I Half utilized properly, it would have been data science. But to calculate things like the height and the distance of the bridge, the weight of the car, the velocity required- are difficult to calculate. Had they all been calculated, the answer could have been worked out But data of this type is somewhat Useless
